Background
Savoie Web Solutions is the trading name of Mark Tennent. I’m based in the French Alps. To be more precise the Tarentaise valley close to Albertville and a short distance from many of the major French ski resorts including Courchevel and Meribel.
My other “hat” is running guided walking, trekking, via ferrata and snowshoe walks in the mountains under the name “Simply Savoie”.
The majority of my professional life has been spent in the outdoor tourism industry.
My Experience
My experience building websites goes back to 1995. I created a website for my outdoor guiding business in Scotland, “Glencoe Mountain Sport”. I was probably one of the first guides to develop a website.
I started using Microsoft FrontPage. From here I transferred to Macromedia Dreamweaver that was then taken over by Adobe. My next step was to go to Drupal one of “the” big content management systems (CMS). I stuck with Drupal from version 6 through to 7.
I then took the step to change to WordPress. WordPress powers around 30% of the world’s websites. It’s a reliable, adaptable platform.
